HIPPY BUDDY has been chosen by Melissa Houston who is studying Textile Design at BIRMINGHAM CITY UNIVERSITY, as a practical placement for her Degree Course.
After a lengthy conversation we came to the same thinking of a new Tie-Dye Collection useing the old technique of Tie-Dyeing.
Melissa came back to me with a finished Palette of Tie-Dyed Samples, the palette is called “0rganic Palette” which is inspired by the Four Elements of Nature (EARTH, AIR, FIRE, WATER).
The Collection Comprises of Wrapround Skirts Long and Short, and Sarongs. These were chosen as the Full Wrapround Skirts and Floaty Sarongs really show the Tie-Dye to its best.

COSMOS- AIR & WATER
Cosmos is a vivid, electrifying Kinetic palette that spirals like whirlwinds and is based on the water and air elements.

LAGOON = TURQUISE
LAZER = WHITE

SUNBURST- FIRE
Sunburst is a bright and energetic palette, giving a ray of positive sun light and is based on the fire element

These prayer flags are woodblock printed with mantras, prayers and images onto colourful cotton squares. The central image is of the Wind Horse bearing the flaming jewel of buddhist enlightenment. At the corners are images of the ‘Four Dignities’, the Garuda, Dragon, Snow Lion and Tiger representing wisdom, gentle power, fearless joy and confidence.

The five traditional colours of the flags represent the five elements and the five Buddha families. Blue is for space, white for water, red for fire, green for air and wind and yellow for earth.
